This StoryWalk was made possible by LSU Agcenter, Vermilion Parish Library, City of Abbeville & Friends of Palmetto Island State Park.
We'd really Like to continue to feature children's books written or illustrated by Louisiana authors. Topics related to LA outdoors, culture, seasons, etc. would be great additions to our collection! To get a list of Books we already have in our collection, send the Friends group an email.
Sheila is originally from Abbeville, LA. She has written several Cajun variations on popular fables. Several are available on Amazon. So far we have acquired "Jean-Paul Hebert was There".
We would love to feature books the 'Clovis the Crawfish' Series, written by Mary Alice Fontenot from Eunice, LA. Did you know her Grandfather lives south of Erath along Bayou Tig? We do have her "Mardi Gras in the Country" book.
Cora Lancon was born and raised in New Iberia, Louisiana. She writes about T-Coon and Birdie B's Bayou Adventures. “The Bayou Says Goodnight” , "How to Peel a Crawfish"; "The Shrimp Festival" and More!
There are So Many Great Books out there! Help us add to our display rotation.
Call the park at 337-893-3930 to find out which copies we currently have in our possession. Three copies of a book must be in-hand before it can be displayed along the StoryWalk. Feel free to purchase the NEW books yourself and get them to the park or make a tax-deductible donation below and we'll take care of the purchasing. Keep in mind that the StoryWalk display is limited to paper back books that are 40 pages are less.
